Documentation and Assessment of Post-disaster Recovery Program After the 2023 Türkiye Earthquakes.

This project aims to document and assess recovery programs, particularly post-disaster housing, after the devastating earthquakes that struck Türkiye in February 2023. The objective is to consider the challenges and opportunities emergency managers face in responding to the 2023 Türkiye earthquakes.

In the aftermath of the earthquakes, more than 14 million individuals—approximately 16.4% of Türkiye’s population—were affected. Over 35,000 buildings collapsed, and many more were damaged. It is important to emphasize that the presence of a large number of refugees in temporary status could further complicate the recovery program. This research project seeks to uncover valuable lessons that can be learned from this significant incident for future recovery efforts.
